New Homepage Layout!
March 4th, 2010 by Tia JonesWe have an exciting new layout for Sorority Life! Not only does it look prettier, it should also be much for intuitive. Here’s what it looks like:
Here are the biggest changes:
1.) The Spa and Bank are now in your ID card in the top left corner, so you can access them from anywhere in the game. Note: the spa will only appear when your confidence is below 20% of its max.
2.) My Style and Jobs are now under the Myself tab.
3.) The In-Crowd is now under the Fight tab.
4.)The Help page is now at the bottom of the screen with the other links.

We are rolling this new look out in phases so if you don’t see it yet, you will soon! Hopefully this makes it easier to bank and spa without losing functionality. Navigate around and see what you think!

The print in the profile box is ridiculously small. My eyes are already bad enough, but then to try and read this?? You need to re-think what you did. Too many people out there playing this game that aren’t going to able to read that! We’re not all 18 years old with 20/20 vision!!
I do not like the new page lay out. I wear glasses and the print is small enough that I can’t really see it well even with the glasses. I wish that you would not keep changing the layout so much, it wasn’t broken so why mess around with it. I realize change is not alway easy to deal with but this is a video game. Just leave it and don’t mess around – it isn’t as if people are going to grow emotionally from this or learn so “change” isn’t necessary

i dislike it. it’s too small and it didn’t have to be changed in the first place.
Will you guys stop changing everything all of the time!! You’re getting as bad as facebook, how they always change the layout every 2 months or so. It was better how it was before. The Monkey Grease Script I can’t even use any more to vote. I am very dissatisfied!!
And BTW. Half of the features are not working! Why don’t you fix that first before you start on a new ‘look’. I can’t send gifts (other sisters can’t as well), and the sweethearts that are able to be taken are not showing up.

The font size needs to be increased and the blue on blue for confidence is difficult to see…Please re-evaluate these changes. I don’t even feel like I’m winning any money because the numbers are so tiny….
I am always looking forward to improvements that enhances play. The new home page layout is one of these changes that suppose to do just that. Below are my pros and cons for playing the game for about an hour since the change.
Pros: icons are nice colorful a appropriate, spa and bank buttons are placed in a logical location and are very functional, pressing the influence bar navigates to the most used buttons: (My Profile, My Skills, My Style, My Characters and My Job) is also a logical change
Cons: The text size is too, too small.
Sound visual design would be to use a print size that readers can view the data without eye strain. May I suggest 18pts or 20pts?
This is horrible. Why do you have to change everything all the time??? If you do change something why don’t you change something we will enjoy and benefit from. Maybe new social events, new glam or vote for all such as the greasemonkey add on. Who cares about a new lay out. The more and more you change the more and more people you will have leave. Maybe have a pilot/test group before make these changes. Do a survey of current players. Think about who buys brownie points and get their opinion as those are the ones you benefit from.
I am so sick of you guys constantly making cosmetic changes and failing to deal with the operational issues of the game. Gifts expire as soon as they are sent, half the time I can’t even see the names of my house members to send gifts. Work on the technical issues first. And while I know that bp’s are necessary to keep the site running, you really gouge players with brownie points required for EVERY NEW FASHION, BOYFRIEND, VEHICLE! So unfair! I’m seriously thinking about leaving the game!! You don’t listen to your players!

My layout hasn’t changed yet. What’s going on with the gifts? I haven’t been able to send grab bag gifts. It says I don’t have any friends!! That is the only way that you can gift without having expired gifts! Why don’t you fix the gift situation, which is making EVERYONE unhappy, before you change other things which most likely already has a glitch since some have the new layout and some don’t!
I am very sick of the new changes and I am just about ready to quit SL because you make all the wrong changes and never, never, never, ever, fix the problems that we are constantly having with the feeds and the my house tabs, sending gifts, gift expiring and the stupid vote button never works or never has.
Keep ignoring the same old problems and you’ll keep losing more members. You don’t listen to your players!
I don’t care about the new lay outs and I would much rather have the grease-monkey VFA back. The only thing that worked in this game. I’m tired of spending my money on BPs for this game, especially all you care about is condoning slapping and causing drama.

it will be way easier if you’re allowed to see your sisters e-mail or real name on their profile to send them the gift without asking all the time.. or just in the “gift section” it should be the name of the character not the real name.. once u have a lot of sisters you tend to mix all the names.. tnx!
I like the changes to My Self, and the movement of the Spa and the Bank. I don’t like the tiny fonts though. The layout has already changed on my account, but I can’t access anything at all. Nothing comes up besides the tabs and the banner graphic.
I won’t be purchasing any more BPs though until you fix the problems that have been identified to you ad nauseum. I’m tired of seeing that half of my gifts are “expired” even though they were sent to me only moments before. Please fix the problems before you make any more “pretty” changes!
I really don’t like the new layout. You have to search for everything and the words are entirely too small. If my eyes weren’t as good as they are I would be a little touched. I am really growing tired of all of these changes and think that I am going to retire from using SL and play something else. Why keep changing something that isn’t broken?
I agree with a lot of these comments. I can barely see the the stats. I also cannot give give gifts, and the ones I get are already expired. PLEASE allow us to see the real name of the sisters alongside their player names so we don’t have to continually ask who they are for things such as going to their pages for bonuses. I have also bought brownie points with my real money, and my friends who don’t play think it’s ridiculous! I keep having to buy another dress or vehicle that I have 50 of, because the bank won’t let me deposit after a certain amount. I have all this money but can’t buy anything new… WHY even award us money for the events then? It’s just getting more frustrating as time goes on, and that’s sad because I really liked the game when I first started.
so far only 2 people like the change! I could care less, these people that created SL, sure dont give a rats butt to what we think!!!!!! (but it sucs)
I don’t like the new layout
You really will run off your regular faithful players with the priority you put on fixes for this game. You have changed the layout three times since I started playing each time it gets cheesier in appearance with the comic strip look and less glamorous. Yes, it used to look more grown up. I totally agree with earlier comments that you need to make right the problems w/the application that infuriate us regular users instead of running us off w/ your idea of upgrades. This last cosmetic change is NOT an upgrade to the playability. Our gifts are expired if under the S.L. list to send and you have known this surely for sometime now as we users know it and haven’t fixed it. Energy items are rarer and rarer; energy used for events is higher & higher and the B.P.’s well, that’s a joke to acquire to have any glam…some will buy it and that’s fine but you are truly running many honest people who like the idea of this game OFF. Please do something right for a change ~ Fire Carol.

I totally agree with everyone that the print is too small. I don’t want to waste time struggling to read it.
Thanks for working so hard on the game to improve it. The print on the new format is way too small, we all play the game for a long time sometimes and it’s too small for even a short stint. The colors don’t contrast enough which makes it hard to navigate fast too. Love the new fun glam. The burn list gives no quick, colorful indication that one has collected a bounty and the status box is too small to read quickly. Thanks for all your hard work. cj
My bank button does nothing when pushed and I am not aT my limitI am losing all my cash to fighters! HELP!
Print is way too small. The slap button is located right under the home page button and I’m willing to bet people are going to get slapped by accident after someone votes and then try’s to go back to the home page, which will cause more drama. I haven’t been able to send gifts for the past three days and half the gifts I receive are expired, and that’s been going on for awhile now. Why not fix what is broken first before you totally change things again? We never know what to expect when we log in now. Too many changes, too many times!!!

I agree with Tina. Another useless, unnecessary update to “pretty up” the game while continuing to disregard what the players have actually been asking for. Why is it that every cosmetic update coincidentally brings the slap button nearer to something where it will most likely be pressed accidentally by someone who doesn’t intent to use it?
I tried to send my sisters gifts – but according to the house tab (in its new place!) i don’t have any friends/sisters in my house (funny – since I have almost 2800!). How about working on those issues?
I wholeheartedly agree with Jana on this one – and as a person who DOES spend a lot of $ on BPs… FIRE “CAROL”. I want someone who listens to what their customers want. We are sick and tired of being ignored.

I will probably stop playing this game too. I have practically stopped playing games like Mafia Wars, Fashion Wars, Glamour Age, Yoville, etc. due to too many changes. I also do not like the new layout. Type faces are too small to read. It is annoying to have to relearn where everything is, when one could do it on autopilot, and multitask. I will not play if I can’t use Greasemonkey. I have a large house, which I will delete, since most have been added for SL house. I refuse to buy BP’s until we get back our old homepage and can use Greasemonkey. I am also really tired of the changes on FB. I may just quit playing games and FB all together. I should use my time in more constructive ways, knit, crochet, etc. This is all still an experiment, look how quickly everyone left My Space, we can leave FB too. Microsoft and other sites offer social networking…
Hi. I’ve noticed that I have some Mochacinos that I would like to use, but they haven’t been re-set yet, back at 40%. It’s already been a day and a half. It’s useless to have these gifts if they are not going to work properly!!!

I agree with many of the comments above. It does seem the focus for managing the game is on cosmetic facade changes and not the serious technical problems this game possesses. For many players who do use real money, they are not getting their money’s worth. In order for this game to stay afloat, the admins must listen to their customers/players. Many current players invite/recommend the game to others. If play is too unsatisfactory and the problems do not get fixed in a timely matter, current players will not bring in new players. Have you “game creators” considered the damage you are doing to yourselves not addressing these serious issues. Take heed to the frustrations your customers/players are voicing or you’ll most likely have to close the game due to vast exodus of players leaving.
All the negative comments are not going to get them to fix the problems, any sooner. LOL. I love the new layout. You guys need to chill. SERIOUSLY. BTW they dont really care if you quit, they have over 6 million active monthly users so you are’nt hurting anyone.
I personally dislike the way SL looks now, looks cheap and not classy, at least the ID card.
I think is too small as well. The order in which things are is not a big deal, but some of the things are just hard to see, like the skills bar, you guys have to be kidding! You should consider a color change!
I hooked up on this game because it was different, and playdom is making it look more and more like the other games I have quitted playing.
I think other issues as getting expired gifts for a month should be adressed instead of silly things like this.

Is the change only for Myspace or something? Cause I can’t see it..nothing changed to my SL window. Don’t mind it though..I really don’t care about the layout…and as far as I can see, the new one pretty much sucks. People here are right..you don’t care about what they’re saying. If you did, you would go back to the old style layout. Does anyone ever read the comments? Or the comments in the forum? I sincerely doubt it…
This looks awful. The ID card is too hard to read. This entire layout change was wholly unnecessary.
The type is to small in the ID card and the colors are to neon. Neon with the dark writing is hard to read. And the slap and home button are to close together. It’s to easy to slap someone.
The new layout sucks! All my sisters are complaining about it. The ID card info is too small and the spa is terrible. Change it back! I am losing all my sisters to Mafia Wars. They are quitting SL because they don’t like it anymore!
The Home key is directly above the slap key and you want me to believe that wasn’t intentional?
PEOPLE…! It’s just a game. If you don’t like it, don’t play! You can always increase the zoom on your internet to make it easier to see.
I purchase brownie points with my own money and also fill out offers. Therefore, I AM one of the customers you want to listen to. Here’s what I like: I can go to the spa or the bank without leaving the burn list. I can withdraw from the bank in order to set a bounty without leaving that person’s page. That’s about it. I totally agree with the other’s comments that the font is too small, glam costs too many bps and I REALLY can’t stand that I can’t bank ALL of my money. Additionally, it shouldn’t just be the money you have in the bank that counts toward most wealthy when others cannot bank their money as they are lower levels even though they might have more money. I think most important – there needs to be more glam items available for purchase without bps and fixing the gifting problem that’s been going on forever now!

I have to agree the print is way too small on the ID card. I also feel there needs to be alittle more contrast between the lettering and background color on the influence meter.
I have the same problem as Georgia Hallmark. Kept spending BP’s on the South Seas Cruise to ght the Amber Blazer and Print Dress needed to complete the Organize a Reunion of House Alumnae event. All kinds of glam appears in the preiew of prizes box on the South Seas event but not the Amber Blazer/Print dress. Unfortunately I did not take notice of this until after I spent 30 BP’s – So Im done with that. If it is an available prize it should show in the glam preview box-until it does its not there as far as I am concerned. The Diamond level of Reunion of House Alumnae Event will remain 0%.
I basically just wanted to add my 2 cents. I agree with all the complaints. The constant updates are frustrating when there are so many problems that need to be fixed. My gifts have been expiring for 2+ weeks and this is not cool.
And to the 2 folks who felt the need to comment telling everyone to stop complaining, how about you shut up? It’s quite clear you’re in the minority so get over yourselves. We’re voicing our concerns for a game that we usually enjoy playing. It’s something to help pass the time. We want to enjoy it, not add it to the list of daily frustrations. People put real money into this game so it should work properly.
I would like to add my 2cents as well.
I do like some of the new features like the bank and spa placement. However, the new placement of the home tab, has me attacking my sisters, in a effort to assure I don’t hit the slap button I keep trying to attack my sisters .. it’s been frustrating. The influence meter is hard to read now, the colors don’t contrast enough, and the little icons you added beside confidence, energy, stamina and cash are really cheezy, how about you increase the font size instead of those cheezy useless icons.
How about you actually address some of the real issues with the game instead of creating anger and frustration in your players. Gifts, when we can send expire immediately, I’ve even had bonuses expire immediately, even though I’ve clicked on it within two minutes of a friend posting it on their page. Please fix the expiring items!!
I understand that FB limits how many people we can send game invites too, but why are we limited on the gifts. As well why are those considered one entity. I usually have 30-50 gifts in a day, and I can’t return them, and if I’ve added anyone new, that’s one less gift I can send. If someone is already in my house, they don’t mind if I send them 30 gifts in a day, please remove that restriction, and separate it from the house invites.
you need to give us back the greese monkey and stop trying to make money for yourselves by only putting good glam out for bps cause you know we dont earn that many in the game..and some of us have real jobs and cant be on all day trying to get bps..you guys are really starting to suck…leave the game alone and make changes for the better new glam and an auto button to vote for all our housemates…have you tried to vote for 500 people..no it takes all day..give us back the damn monkey or you will start to loose people..next we will strike not to put any money in the game and then you might think twice about your stupid changes for the worse!!!! oh and the expired gifts good job on changing that..hahaha

Voting.. When you have more then 100 sisters in your house, that stupid “vote for 25″ of your sisters is useless, it’s less then a quarter of your sisters, and you would spend an entire day voting, especially those with 1000 or more sisters. You may not have supported the grease monkey, but your players relied on it! Either fix the voting to be able to vote for ALL of your sisters, regardless of how many you have, or add the grease monkey into your programming so that we may use it!
I just wanted to say that I do like the new bank. Its fast and easy. But, the new ID card is too small to read and I hope it gets changed fast!
Are you kidding me? I need a magnifying glass now just to see my stats. Everything is crammed in together and it’s impossible to read. I find myself today not even wanting to play at all because I can’t tell what I’m doing. que pena todo estara muy bonito pero tengo didifcultad apara consignar mi dienro sea pococ u mucho no entiendo este banco asi que me parece que la modificacion que hicieron esta bien pero lo que es el spa y el banco esta causando mucha confucion por favor resolver esto y lo otro ud exigen muchas hermanas para determinados eventos y lo logico esque uds nos den la oportunidad de poder disfrutar de un boton automatico para las votaciones,somo muchos ,los que trabajamos y hay multiples tareas que cumplir en nuestros hogares.pero tambien en el emoemnto de relax tener un boton que pinchar para votar al cantidad de personas en las casa.creo que es lo mas justo.el relax mio es este juego asi sea es adictivo y la votacion se vuelve cansona por que es de a un voto por persona que se hace y lei que playdon no esta permitiendo el usos de grasemonkye.

this is the all the problems with SL…so please fix it, I’m thinking about leaving and I know a good handful of sisters that are leaving, if this is not fixed.

One other thing I forgot to mention – REALLY tired of how long it takes for energy to refill and how many energy points so many of the events take – it takes MONTHS to complete an event which is ridiculous! Fix this too!
I really like the bank button next 2 cash!!! much, much easier to bank as soon as u log in, rather than clicking the bank tab & closing the gift window that pops up, during which people seem to attack!
NOT liking the Home button being DIRECTLY ABOVE the Slap button…but I’ll just have to be careful…
Changes suck. Fix the technical problems first. Cosmetic changes second or never for all I care. I buy bps and have since starting the game but will not buy anymore. It is possible to have a vote for all function. It would be nice to be able to do that again.

Nothing wrong with making changes and trying to improve things, but why is no thought given to preserving the good stuff from the old format when designing the new one?
Why not ask the question: “What is it about the way things are now that make the game enjoyable?” and either keep them or add them to the new arrangement?
Just as an example, the bounty hunters are in general agreement that the announcements “You have made _____ terminally depressed.” and the orange lettered announcement were an important feature of the old burn list format. Is there any real reason why those announcements can’t be added to the new format?
Why not take the best of the old and combine it with the new stuff?
Isn’t that the best way to improve something?

Please change this back or at least enlarge the print so we can read it. I know change is necessary but to make it harder to use and read is not. Really hate the new layout
Can’t please all of the people all of the time! I am all for updates to the game. I am extremely adaptable, nitpicking will get you nowhere.
I like the change, but agree the font is small, “squints”.
My favorite part is that I can quickly return attacks without having two windows open. I can simply go to the attackers page, spa up right there without losing them, and strike back before they are back in the spa.
I also agree the messages are important for Bounty Hunting. I can’t tell if I have gotten the final blow unless the bounty shows up in my bank. No orange text induced rush! LOL!
BTW:Where did the “One dozen Cookies” go!? We were able to gift them from our own stash, and now we can’t?!
Change is beneficial to game flow and performance. New features, special events and glam are always eagerly anticipated, but please leave our favorite features intact as the game evolves! Thanks!

I know you think making these cosmetic changes is a good thing but as you can see from almost every post people hate it. Just fix the bugs and les us vote on any new changes in future or your going to lose alot of faithful players to SL.

hi, i dont want this change in the bank and spa, I can not make a change in this I can not start my spa, and I can not put my mony in the bank, I dont whant play whit this change¡¡¡¡¡
WOW! lots of people hate the changes. Me personally, they dont bother me much, except for tonight my damn spa button isnt working!!! sheesh. I think you need to FOCUS on fixing the REAL technical issues with this game and stop trying to make it pretty! if you put half the effort into FIXING thing that need the FIXING, this game would run great. Also, PLEASE give us more GLAM as in CLOTHES and SHOES that can be purchased with SL money. I have bought my share of Bp’s, but i cant get every outfit that comes out, not that i want them all, but dont you think we get tired of not having anything to buy? I realize this is not supposed to be a dress up game alone, but it is part of it and we should unlock new glam every few levels like it is at the beginning of the game. gives you something to look forward to. Im just saying.
Wow. I started playing SL like a week ago, and it took time for me to adjust, but now everything has changed and I’m so confused!

You guys need to change this back. Not only is the font small as heck, but some of the features won’t even work. There are a few different problems wrong, and I’d suggest fixing them before you go and make a new “look”. Plus, now everyone who had the autovoter can’t use it because your new look messed it up and wont let it worl=k!
I appreciate the fact that you see the need to always keep improving your site. However some of the new features could be bigger e.g. the ’spa’ and ‘bank’ tabs. The ‘Influence’ meter could also be show the points already achieved in a darker shade.
Could you (1) please make the ‘View my house members’ page in the ‘My House’ tab just like the ‘Rivals’ page in the ‘Fight’ tab? This will make it easier to vote and send gifts to sorority sisters,using separate buttons. (2) please allow votes to be converted to brownie points, maybe 10 to 1. Thanks.
I totally agree with the font being too small, and not liking the new changes. However, I hate to break it to everyone, but the designers don’t care. When was the last time people complained about something on this blog, and it made any difference? Trust me, they do not care at all.

Ever since the new layout was introduced the game hasn’t worked right. I can’t log into the game or get to to load, and this has been going on about 4 days. What good is a new layout if it jacks up the game???

I like the new layout. I’m young and have 20/20 vision, so it didn’t occur to me that there might be a problem with it until I read this. I can understand wanting the font to be bigger, that’s a valid concern. Why do people feel the need to complain about EVERYTHING, though? Maybe if we banded together with a single relevant concern, they would listen… but they’ve never heard us say a nice thing about the game, and half of the concerns are crack-pot… I wouldn’t read these comments if I were the makers of the game. They’re whinny and annoying.
Also, they have to keep changing the game. If they didn’t, people would get bored and quit.

Your loosing players. You need to read these messages and you have it so hard to have enough energy to socialize there is nothing to do when you run out of energy.
I don’t mind the new layout, it’s more practical in some ways. But I think you should change the issues the girls have with their page before moving on and updating.
I play Sorority in myspace & is there any way to update it on this type???
love the newest changes. it’s easy to navigate and has a cleaner look. i would like to suggest a few things though…
1. the font is really quite small. we’re not all teenagers on here
lol.
2. it would be nice to be able to buy brownie points with the money you earn in the game. as it is, it’s too hard to gain an actual usable amount.
3. along the line of brownie points, it’d be nice to be able to “buy” some of the special dresses/items. they are beyond the reach of everyone who only have a few brownie points but their bank is full.
4. also, one of the shopping games (different version of bejewled) keeps freezing up. i’ve given up playing them because they mess up my internet.
these simple changes would make the game more enjoyable. thank you.

my Sorority Life got worse when lay out was changed. The spa and bank button do not function. I can’t withdrawn/deposit the money/ going to spa and change my job!

I like the layout, but I want to make a suggestion for My house, and voteing. It is not possible to make and arrow, in the top of a Housemembers page(profil), so we can klik on that and go to the next Housemembers profil, with out the klik on the My House tab, befor we can vote.I dont hafe the patience to vote, for all my housemembers, want to.
You really should listen to your user base! Very few like any of the changes you have rolled out these past few months. You have ruined the BL , the gifting is shot, and YES the typeset is too small. The new stuff is awesome gifting/glam wise , but we have a near impossible time SENDING it.And when things are bought in glam , you have to refresh the page to see a true count because the inventory DOES NOT CHANGE.I ,like countless others, want the BL reverted back, amongst the other things I have listed.No one has to sabotage this game or its users – YOUR doing it yourselves. Thank YOU for ruining a great game.

Many sisters have to vote in a hurry. Scrolling up means rolling across the slap and/or attack buttons. Accidents happen but a lot more when those buttons situated directly below the Home button.
Bounty Hunters dilemma!
The sister holding the gift with the HUGE hand drawing the curser to the Refresh button like a magnet… If you are a hair of a fraction off–and YES BH’s are usually moving fast–right in the middle of your hunt, THE GIFTS SCREEN POPS UP BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR THE BURN LIST SCREEN. Can she at least be moved over to the left just a tad?
ALSO, we don’t need the victory screen popping up because in the meantime, we miss one or two other bounties. I suppose it’s a nice perk for our sisters to see it on our page and get a bonus but can’t that be done UP a little higher? It gets in the way also–blocks the screen.
One last thing… The announcement of the successful bounty hunt is “less than desirable.” If you sneeze hard it’s gone. No bragging rights and no way to verify that you attacked on a bounty or who put the hit out.
Just my opinion but it’s got my game WAY off to the point that it’s not fun to play. But it looks really good.
I like the changes, but the game is getting boring. Everything fun costs brownie points. We need some other incentives.
I always go to the spa after a fight, but I still get attacked. When I try to attack my rivals it says they are in the spa. This goes on all day. What is the amt time in the spa?
